About the performance
MY CUNTRY is going to the place they fear the most. And, in this performance, that place is called ‘home.
Forced, fleeing, thrown out, thrown away? Every time is true, but the truth is never the same. MY CUNTRY is a hybrid between fiction and reality, which- through the mantra 'more is more' and with the humor as a speaker- invites the audience into an aesthetic world of genderfuckery, butoh, classical dance, physical theatre and high fashion. MY CUNTRY shows the world from the outsider's perspective and asks: who has decided that they were wrong?
MY CUNTRY consists of a multidisciplinary and international LGBTQ+ cast from Brazil, England, Denmark and Norway- all of whom work with issues of identity, alienation, sexuality, and gender. They have all been homeless, ruthless, and outrageous. In search of home, they have now traveled back to the place that previously was impossible for them to be in, now filled with a strong desire to reconcile.
About the performance
Tone Haldrup Lorenzen and Siri Maj Knutsen were both born and raised in Aarhus. Now, after many years outside Denmark's borders, they have moved back to their native town. With the desire to make the queer art scene even more prominent in Nordic cultural life, they have gathered a group of multidisciplinary artists who, through their cultural differences and artistic similarities, create a radical, innovative collaboration. Siri M. Knutsen and Tone H. Lorenzen co-founded CuntsCollective in January 2018. MY CUNTRY will be the starting point for many new projects, which will embellish and provoke the Nordic cultural life. CuntsCollective wish to make the LGBGTIA artist more visible in the cultural scene.
